Research description

SenSys Lab develops next-generation sensing technologies by bringing together microsystems, functional materials, microfluidics, electronics, intelligent analytics, and application-driven engineering. Our research goes beyond the development of individual sensors to engineer integrated sensory systems that can measure, interpret, and respond to complex biological, environmental, and physical information. We are particularly interested in translating these technologies into One Health diagnostics and solutions for healthcare, human wellbeing, environmental monitoring, and sustainable living, bridging fundamental research with real-world applications and societal impact.

Biography

Sanket Goel’s research focuses on Cyber-Physical Sensory Systems (CPSS), One Health diagnostics, intelligent sensing, micro/nanotechnology, microfluidics, and biomedical technologies for applications in healthcare, environmental monitoring, energy, and sustainable living. Prior to joining the University of Manitoba, he was Professor at BITS Pilani, where he served as Founding Dean of Research & Innovation, Founding Head of CREST and Head of EEE Department. He has held research and academic positions at leading institutions in India, Canada (UAlberta), the United States (Stanford), and Singapore (A*STAR). Prof. Goel has authored 400+ research publications, holds 100+ patents, guided 75+ PhD students, has co-founded 3 technology ventures and transferred 5+ technologies. He was awarded the National Award to Teachers 2025, presented by the President of India, the IEEE India Council Technologist of the Year 2025, and the IEEE India Council Technology Start-up Award 2024. He is a IEEE Sensors Council Distinguished Lecturer, and RSC, Fulbright and JSPS fellow.
