Profile

James is a Professional Engineer with a  career focused on new product development and new product introduction.  He spent 29 years at Parker Hannifin (formerly Vansco Electronics), which develops rugged, high tech displays, controllers and sensors targeting the harsh agricultural, construction and truck & bus environments.  While there, James led cross functional teams ranging from a few people to more than twenty working in several areas of product development including product design, environmental testing and new product introduction. James is a firm believer in solid, engineering processes that encourage high quality designs and support a learning organization. As well, he has successfully integrated lean techniques into activities such as Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test.

As an Engineer in Residence in Biosystems Engineering James will:

  • Provide mentorship to the University of Manitoba Agricultural Robotics Team (UM-agBOT).
  • Assist with the delivery of the capstone design courses in the Department of Biosystems Engineering.
