Bio

  • Dr. Robert Mizzi (he/him) is the Canada Research Chair in Critical and Creative Continuous Learning and Professor in the Faculty of Education. With expertise in both educational administration and adult education, Dr. Mizzi researches the impact of employee productivity, belonging, and satisfaction when workplace learning is more inclusive and creative. Dr. Mizzi is globally recognized for his two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer research in education, and for his work highlighting the deleterious and regulatory effects of heteroprofessionalism in the workplace. He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada (College of New Scholars) and the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame and is a TEDx speaker.
     
    He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor, a Master of Education from the University of Alberta, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Online Pedagogy from the University of Illinois-Springfield, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Education) from York University.  
     
    Dr. Mizzi teaches various courses, such as Analysis of Educational Organizations, Theoretical Perspectives in Educational Administration, Gender and Sexual Diversity in Education and Community, Work and Learning in Organizations, Doctoral Seminar, and Politics of Diversity and Equity: Comparing Educational Organizations.  He is open to advising MEd and PhD students.
