Pediatric Dentistry Fellowship

Participants of the Fellowship Program will attend on a full-time basis for a minimum of 12 months. Successful completion of the program will consist of passing the final year internal written and/or oral residency examinations and the completion of the assigned clinical cases to the clinical standard of practice of a graduating senior resident.

Upon successful completion of the IDSF Program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion from Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME), University of Manitoba. After satisfactory completion of the Fellowship training, the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry will provide a letter of support and attestation of completion of the program to The Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) who will be administering the National Dental Specialty Exam (NDSE).

Priority will be given to internationally trained pediatric dentists who demonstrate evidence of a minimum of 2 years of clinical practice and involvement in academics (e.g., rank, tenure status, academic teaching, scholarly activities, publications) and have a desire to pursue an academic pediatric dentistry career in Canada. 

All fees listed are for 2023-2024 academic year and are subject to change.

*Registration and license - $900 due prior to start of Fellowship. $450 license renewal due February 28.

** PGME tuition for domestic $1,180 and $4,599 for international.

• Personal Statement/Letter of Intent outlining career goals
• Current curriculum vitae
• Three reference letters in English
• Certificate/diploma of completion of a general dentistry degree and 2-year full time specialty training program in pediatric dentistry**
• Original transcripts in English**
• If you have been licensed to practice dentistry in any jurisdiction – letters of good standing in English from current or previous licensing bodies must be submitted
• If applicable, copies of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
• TOEFL within the last 24 months at the time of application and achieved a minimum score of 100 with no category under 100. OR IELTS academic version within the last 24 months at the time of application and achieved a minimum score of 7.0 in each of the four components in the same sitting OR Pearson Test of English Academic within the last 24 months and achieve a minimum overall score of 61.

TOEFL/IELTS is required unless you have received a secondary school diploma and/or university degree from Canada or one of the countries listed on the English Language Proficiency Test Exemption List.

*Applicants are responsible for source verification fees of each document submitted, translation of certificates of professional conduct fees, and registration and license fees.

** Incomplete applications will not be considered. All transcripts and reference letters must be received no later than 3 weeks from application submission date. The department will not contact referees or academic institutions for the purpose of requesting the letters or transcripts.
