Mary Bertone’s research activities focus on geriatrics, families with young children, community engagement with diverse populations and quality assurance initiatives. She has worked on many research teams receiving substantial grants funded both provincially and nationally.
Current research Interests include:
Professor Mary Bertone is an associate professor in the School of Dental Hygiene at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.
She has worked as a dental hygienist in a variety of settings across Manitoba providing care in long-term care facilities, northern and remote communities and community-based private dental practices. Mary still provides oral health promotion, education and dental hygiene care in Churchill, Manitoba.
She is strongly committed to teaching, to community service and to finding unique ways to combining these two realms together.
Bertone currently serves as director of the School of Dental Hygiene, President of the National Dental Hygiene Examination Board, and Chair of the Educators Advisory Committee to the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association.
