Research summary
As a researcher, Dr. França has devoted his time to develop new dental biomaterials to provide clinical solutions for patients. Also, he is interested in understanding issues like: surface analyses of dental biomaterials, dental adhesion, the adhesion of endotoxin on dental surfaces, and to developing new magnetic nano-devices to treat chronic diseases.
Biography
Dr. Rodrigo França is an associate professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry, and his training in Dental Materials Science, MSc and PhD degrees, was conducted at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Afterwards, he obtained his second PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Montreal Polytechnique School at University of Montreal, Canada.
He has taught Dental Materials at both undergraduate and graduate course levels for the past 20 years. Currently, he is an Associate Professor the Head of Dental Material Division at College of Dentistry and director of the Dental Biomaterials Research Lab at University of Manitoba.
Also, he has a cross-appointment at the Department of Oral Biology, and is a core member of the Biomedical Engineering graduation program and member of the Manitoba Institute of Materials.
He is a member of the Academy of Dental Materials, Canadian and International Association of Dental Research and Canadian Biomaterials Association.
