Melissa is currently the Program Coordinator and Assistant to the Director at the James W. Burns Leadership Institute at the University of Manitoba. Melissa has been with the University of Manitoba since 2012 and has held administrative roles in the University Sustainability Office when it was a start-up, and in External Relations (Alumni and Donor Relations).
Before moving to Canada she worked for five years with the University of the West Indies - her alma mater in the Graduate Studies and Research Office as the Assistant to Registrar and later as the Assistant to the Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and has well over a decade of experience working in higher education.
Melissa has earned a Bachelor of Arts (History and Spanish), a Master of Science (Public Sector Management) degree from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Human Ecology from the University of Manitoba.
Her other passions include assisting others to become their best selves. She volunteers her time to a community organization in Winnipeg’s north end that focuses on organizing and empowering women.
