Kathy Knight joined the University of Manitoba’s I.H. Asper School of Business as Director of the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre in June 2024.
Prior to joining the university, Kathy was the Executive Director of the Cyber Security Centre of Excellence at the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. This was after spending more than a decade at the helm of Tech Manitoba, the industry association representing Manitoba’s information technology sector. Kathy brings with her a remarkable blend of subject matter expertise, leadership skills, and relationship-building ability.
Under her leadership, Tech Manitoba grew into the leading voice of the ICT industry in this province. As CEO, she was one of the founding partners the MITT/Pembina Trails School Division/Tech Manitoba collaboration on PTEC, an innovative program that reinvents technology in education. She also advocated for greater representation of women in technology and showcased how vital ICT is to Manitoba’s economic wellbeing. Kathy has spearheaded signature events such as The Innovators and DisruptED, which bring educators and employers together to create a vision for the future of work.
The advancements Kathy has orchestrated over the past couple of decades in Manitoba’s ICT sector have made her one of its most recognized and respected thought leaders and ambassadors—locally, nationally, and abroad. Kathy is known within the business community for her expertise in creating a community of thinkers and doers united by the common purpose of making Manitoba the kind of place where big ideas collide with technology to create exciting new opportunities.
Recently, Kathy completed her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration Leadership at Royal Roads University.
