John Wilms

John Wilms is a Business Executive with over two decades of leadership and technology experience. At IBM Canada, John worked in a number of sales and business development roles with clients in the life sciences and healthcare industry sectors. As part of an initiative targeting growth opportunities for IBM, John led the Emerging Technologies portfolio and was involved in business development partnerships with innovative firms around the globe. He was also a member of IBM’s Global Air Freight team, focusing on improving the company’s supply chain and logistics capabilities.

Later, as Sales Director and President of a North American medtech startup, John opened markets for an innovative new technology, and established partner sales channels in number of Asian countries. Lean management and continuous improvement were an integral part of the company’s processes.

John is a member of the University of Manitoba Transport Institute (UMTI) and the Canadian Transportation Research Forum. His business and research interests include; sustainable transportation solutions for Canada’s North, airships, the travel industry.

He is a Board Member of Supply Chain Canada (Manitoba), and he earned his P.Log. from the Logistics Institute in 1999.

John teaches classes in Lean Management, Supply Chain/ Operations and Interpersonal Processes at the Asper School of Business. He has a BSC (Honours) from McMaster University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
