Howard Harmatz thrives on coaching case and debate teams for the Asper School. He holds a B.A. from Goddard College, Vermont, an M.A. from Simon Fraser University, and has done further studies in the Department of Economics at the University of Manitoba. He has been teaching at the University of Manitoba since 1975 and is the 2011 Beatrice Stanton award winner in teaching excellence. He has published in the areas of economic psychology and political science, although he formally studied economic history.
History, business history, and cases form the bases for narratives that shape our interpretation. Thus, questioning, doubting, and rethinking form the approach to his current teaching efforts in developing critical analytical skills.
