Research

Research interests

In my research I aim to leverage genomic, bioinformatics and genetic engineering to design climate change resilient crops for Canada. One of the main foci of my research is to integrate latest genomic technologies and advanced bioinformatics to further accelerate the progress of high erucic acid rapeseed breeding program at the University of Manitoba. Furthermore, I am also interested in genome assembly and annotation of other agriculturally important plant species such as bread wheat, barley, oats and durum wheat.

Current research projects

  • Identification of genomic polymorphisms associated with high protein content in Brassica napus.
  • Genetic dissection of Fusarium Head Blight Resistance in Durum wheat
  • Development of genome assemblies for Canadian Oat Cultivars
