Dr. Liu’s research focuses on taxonomy and pest control. 

  • Insect systematics: integrative taxonomy, systematics, phylogeny (leafhopper, tumbling flower beetle/Mordellidae, and more)
  • Insect diversity and monitoring
  • Agricultural and forest entomology and pest control
  • Ecology

Current research projects

  • Taxonomic study of Mordellidae (Insecta: Coleoptera)-based on comparative and Geometric morphology and DNA-Barcoding.
  • Systematic study of the genus Empoasca worldwide
