  • The impact and management of stressors affecting colony health
  • Honey bee nutrition
  • Pollination by managed and native pollinators

Current research projects

  • Manipulation of ventilation during indoor storage of honey bees to manage pests and disease
  • Management of varroa and viruses with oxalic acid during indoor and outdoor wintering
  • Understanding mechanisms of resistance to parasitic mites through grooming behaviour
  • Detection and development of biomarkers to inform management of honey bee health
  • Development of proteomic and molecular markers for resistance against honey bee pathogens and parasites
