Dr. Engel's program of research aims to improve the financial capability and financial well-being of people living with chronic health conditions or disabilities, especially those living with associated cognitive impairments. This research views addressing finance as foundational to addressing health. Using mixed-methods approaches, her research examines both the individual and the environment/context, and also examines the roles of the health and social-care practitioner and the financial professional related to financial capability and financial well-being assessment and interventions/supports.
