Les Chalmers is an innovative music educator who is passionate about inclusion and creating quality music education opportunities for all students. In addition to teaching the Guitar Techniques course, Chalmers teaches at River East Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he created, and directs the Guitar Ensemble, Classroom Guitar and Music Production programs. He is active as an arranger for guitar ensemble, classroom guitar, concert band and jazz band as well as recording and live sound engineer. His experiences working with professional orchestras, choral groups, touring bands, outdoor festivals, and local musicians provide context for his teaching and helping students find what makes them passionate about creating music.
In the faculty
In addition to teaching the Guitar Techniques course, Chalmers teaches at River East Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he directs the Guitar Ensemble program, and teaches the Classroom Guitar and Music Production programs. He is active throughout the Manitoba music education community, having been a board member on both the MCGA and MMEA.
