Soprano, Judith Oatway, has a passion for singing displayed in her commitment to performance and instruction. Her performances have been described as 'polished and dramatic' by the Opera Composer Blog. Judith holds a master's in literature and Music Performance from the University of Western Ontario is an active guest clinician and adjudicator throughout the province. She is a sessional instructor at the University of Manitoba.

Performance Highlights

Some of the highlights include a Manitoba tour of the music of John Greer and La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi). Recent performances include Zwei Dame, Gertrude in Barber's A Hand of Bridge and Mother in Hansel & Gretel. Previous roles include Magda Sorel (The Consul), Witch (Hansel & Gretel), Anne Maurrant (Street Scene) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). She has performed with MB Underground Opera, UW Opera, The Little Opera Company, Opera NUOVA, Kitchener Opera, Halifax Summer Opera, and Millennium Library Skywalk Series and Classical Guitar Society. 

Judith co-founded the Summer Music Academy at the Community School of Music & the Arts at CMU, a summer program for young singers in Winnipeg. She is also a co-founder and Artistic Director of Flipside Opera, an independent vocal music organization.     

Creative Works

Judith is the founder and artistic director of Flipside Opera & Art Song Collaborative based in Winnipeg. They curate and promote programming weaving stories through song. This project has been a source of great creativity and an outlet for many dream projects to come to life.
