Why are we switching to Halo?

Halo replaces the current Service Management system, Cherwell, that is approaching end of life.

When are we switching to Halo?

Halo will be implemented in November 2025.

How do I use Halo to contact the IST Service Desk?

Access the user-friendly Halo self-service portal (coming soon) to submit a service request or incident ticket when you need assistance. The portal provides one-stop access to see the statuses and updates of all your requests.

What will happen to my open service requests? Do I need to submit them again?

You do not need to submit new requests; your open tickets are still valid.

What happens to the old way of contacting the IST Service Desk?

You are welcome to walk-in, phone (204-474-8600) or email (srvdesk@umanitoba.ca) the IST Service Desk.

How will I know what is happening with my request?

Updates will be available in the Halo Portal so you will always know the status of your tickets.

Is my information safe in Halo?

Yes. Halo is secure and follows all university rules for keeping your information private and protected.

Who can I talk to if I have questions about using Halo?

You can reach out to the IST Service Desk
