The objectives for the 2026 Roundtable

The objectives for the 2026 Roundtable are to:

  • Strengthen partnerships and collaboration between Canada and Mexico’s post-secondary institutions and scholars
  • Discuss intersecting innovations and research opportunities
  • Facilitate student exchanges

The agenda will include cultural/experiential learning components, panels, workshops, keynote speakers and informal networking opportunities.

Portions of the program will include ceremonial elements. In recognition of these moments, attire that reflects respect for ceremony is invited. Guests who wish to do so are welcome to wear their formal or traditional attire. For the pipe and water ceremony, women are invited to wear skirts.

Most of the day will be spent in Brokenhead First Nation, including on the wetland interpretive trail. The trail is rated as “easy” and covers 2.6 km (roundtrip). Sunscreen and mosquito repellent will be available onsite.

Parking is available at the University Centre parkade, located next to UMSU University Centre. Parking details, directions and a campus map are available to help support your visit.

DIRECTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY CENTRE PARKADE

From Pembina Highway, enter the University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus via the entrance at Chancellor Matheson Road. 

Proceed east on Chancellor Matheson Road until you arrive at the intersection of Chancellor Matheson Road and University Crescent. Turn left onto University Crescent. Keep right on University Crescent and take the first right turn onto Dysart Road. Keep right on Dysart Road and turn right at the first crosswalk onto Sidney Smith Street. Keep left on Sidney Smith Street and turn left at the crosswalk onto Ralph Campbell Road. From Ralph Campbell Road, turn right into the University Centre parkade. 

Once you have parked your vehicle, exit on the 200 level and follow the posted signs to the Roundtable, located on the 2nd floor of UMSU University Centre.
