Dr. Souradet Shaw's main areas of interest include infectious conditions, such as sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections (STBBIs); vulnerable and marginalized populations; and the impact of context on risk and vulnerability to STBBIs. He is particularly focused on public health programs and surveillance, as well as quantitative methodology and epidemiology.
Dr. Shaw has collaborated on research projects in India, Pakistan, Kenya and Canada, working with populations such as sex workers, people who inject drugs and individuals living with HIV.
Dr. Souradet Shaw is an assistant professor in College of Community and Global Health, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. He is a public health scientist and social epidemiologist, and is the Canada Research Chair in Program Science and Global Public Health (Tier II), located at the Institute for Global Public Health at the University of Manitoba.
He has been an epidemiologist with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, and has guided surveillance policy and practice at the regional and provincial levels.
