Research

Research interests

Dr. Cattani's research focuses on the use of herbaceous perennial species for food, feed, fibre and fuel. Areas range from plant breeding through the agronomic impact of use and cultivation on plant development and performance. 

Current research projects

  • Breeding and agronomic development of intermediate wheatgrass for human consumption for western Canadian producers. 
  • Breeding of herbaceous perennial for use in western Canadian beef production. 
  • Utilizations of C4 perennial grasses for bioenergy use.
  • Adaptation and use of herbaceous perennials for climate change mitigation.
