Dr. Milton Boyd is a Professor and Economist at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the area of Risk Management and Actuarial Science, in the Asper School of Business at the University. He has traveled to over 100 countries, and his international activities have included teaching, research, and advising, for universities, international organizations, business, and government. Much of his recent international work has been in Asia.
He has written over 150 articles, papers, and reports, for business, government, academics, and international organizations, and his articles have also appeared in popular press such as Technical Analysis of stocks and Commodities, National Post, Winnipeg Free Press, Calgary Herald, Calgary Sun, Edmonton Journal, Saskatoon StarPhoenix, Western Producer, Manitoba Cooperator, Grainews, and many others. He has provided commentary to the media and has also been quoted in the international media such as the New York Times newspaper. He taught futures and options short courses at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (now the ICE Exchange) for a number of years, and has also taught in other industry courses such as Canadian International Grains Institute, and Canadian Securities Course.
His public service interests include improving the operation and development of markets. He has served in the past as a contributing editor and columnist for Grainews for number of years where he has written many articles on commodity markets and financial markets, and he has also served as a Policy Advisor for the Frontier Center for Public Policy. He has received two awards from the University of Manitoba for research and outreach, and is also a Fellow of Seattle Pacific University. He has also received awards for Best Conference Presentation, and Outstanding Journal Paper. His academic service has included serving as journal guest editor, journal advisory board member and journal editorial board member, conference scientific committee member, conference organizing committee and conference keynote speaker.
