Dr. Carlberg is an award-winning teacher, having been recognized by the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences Student Organization with its Professor of the Year Award, as well has having been twice selected as the Outstanding Teacher in Agricultural and Food Sciences at the Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception.

Research

Research interests

Dr. Carlberg is an applied agricultural and food economist whose research interests include issues in agricultural marketing, particularly within the cattle & beef sectors, agricultural land values, and grain, pulses and oilseed industries. He also has done important work in the nutrition economics area, particularly with respect to the public healthcare costs of food-related chronic diseases as well as contributing to food and nutrition policy.

  • Profitability impacts of removing growth-enhancing technologies from cattle feeding
  • Pricing conservation easements in southwest Saskatchewan
  • Innovation and sustainability in Canadian agriculture
  • Use of pea coproducts as feed in Manitoba cow-calf operations
