Manitoba will move to permanent daylight saving time on Nov. 1, 2026. This change will affect how time zones are handled in Microsoft Outlook calendars and Zoom meetings and webinars on or after that date.

What this means for UM Microsoft outlook users
Microsoft plans to release guidance and updates to support this change before it takes effect. This may require Outlook users to review appointments and meetings scheduled for Nov.1, 2026, or later, as they may appear one hour earlier or later than intended. This may affect events created before Microsoft’s time zone update is installed, particularly recurring meetings that continue beyond November 1. This means you should review these events after the update to confirm that the start and end times are correct for all participants.
What you need to do on November 1
Review upcoming events: Check appointments and meetings scheduled for Nov. 1, 2026, or later. Confirm that the start and end times are correct for everyone invited.
Correct affected meetings: Open the event, select the time block and use the globe icon to display the time-zone settings. Choose (UTC−05:00) Manitoba. Only the meeting organizer can update an event that includes attendees.
Check recurring meetings carefully: Changing the time zone for a recurring series resets exceptions, such as an individual occurrence moved to a different time. Re-create those exceptions after updating the series.
