Project storage and backup
Project storage
IST maintains a large pool of storage capacity (2.4PB) that is available for projects and application support. Data can be maintained within a Virtual Machine or accessed from the Common Internet File System (CIFS) (Windows) or Network File Sharing (NFS) (Linux) protocols.
Project backup
Nightly incremental backups are saved on disks for 30 days. Full backup is performed every weekend, transferred to tapes and stored off-site for disaster recovery. Full monthly backups are copied to tapes and stored in data centre for a year.

Create an IT ticket to request consultation for project storage and backup. A staff member will contact you to gather your storage requirements.
Archival storage and backup
Archival storage
Data generated for research or reporting purposes is often saved for reference, legal requirements or internal records. Since the research or reporting on the data is complete, the data does not change often.
Archival backup
The initial full backup of archival data is pushed directly to tape and stored off-site. Additionally, daily or weekly incremental backups are made directly to a dedicated pool of tapes for each researcher and stored off-site.
