Dr. Taillieu's research focuses on the effects of child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, and other traumatic events on physical and mental health, including substance use, across the lifespan. She is also exploring factors influencing the mental health and well-being of military personnel and first responders in Canada.
Dr. Taillieu is an assistant professor in the College of Community and Global Health and a research scientist at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy.
She completed her PhD in the Applied Health Sciences program at the University of Manitoba in 2019. Her dissertation research focused on the relationship between violence during pregnancy and maternal and child health and social outcomes, from the prenatal period to five years post-delivery.
In June 2022, Dr. Taillieu completed the Applied Counselling Certificate (ACC) program with a specialization in addictions.
Her teaching responsibilities have included courses on human development, family diversity, family violence, children in adversity, family violence prevention, addictions in the family and biostatistics.
Her research interests include the effects of child maltreatment, intimate partner violence and other traumatic events on physical and mental health, including substance use, across the lifespan. She is also working on projects examining factors that influence military personnel and first responder mental health and well-being in Canada.
Dr. Taillieu has been involved in all aspects of the research process, including coding and statistical analyses using several large epidemiological datasets, drafting and editing manuscripts for publication and participating in the design and implementation of primary data collection in Manitoba.
