Research summary

Dr. Shuangbo Liu’s research focuses on clinical outcomes following acute coronary syndrome and percutaneous coronary intervention, using administrative databases and prospective registries. She leads the Manitoba Acute Coronary Syndrome Network and is a researcher at both the Interventional Cardiology Research Institute (ICRI) and the Canadian Cardiovascular Research Collaboratory (C3). Her research interests include acute coronary syndrome, microvascular disease, percutaneous coronary intervention techniques, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, and women’s heart health. Currently, Dr. Liu is investigating the psychological distress experienced by patients after acute coronary syndrome and myocardial infarction with no obstructive coronary artery disease (MINOCA).

Biography

Dr. Shuangbo Liu is a rising star in the field of interventional cardiology and community health sciences. She is an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba and is dedicated to advancing the understanding of acute coronary syndrome and percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes, with a particular focus on women's heart health. 

Dr. Liu began her journey in the medical field by obtaining her MD from the University of Manitoba and completing her internal medicine and adult cardiology training in Winnipeg. She then went on to pursue her passion for interventional cardiology by completing a fellowship at the renowned St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she was offered a position as a clinical associate at St. Michael's upon completion of her fellowship. 

She is currently working on her Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto while continuing her research in the field. Dr. Liu is not only a leading researcher but also an active member of several research groups including the Manitoba Acute Coronary Syndrome Network, the Interventional Cardiology Research Institute (ICRI), and the Canadian Cardiovascular Research Collaboratory (C3). 

Her innovative research has already garnered her several awards and grants, solidifying her reputation as a young investigator to watch in the field.
