Dr. Shajy Isac is a renowned public health researcher and expert in maternal and child health, family planning, and HIV/AIDS. With more than 24 years of experience, he holds a PhD in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences in Mumbai and has a background as a statistician and demographer.
Dr. Isac specializes in survey design and program monitoring, with a strong ability to develop innovative monitoring systems and effectively communicate research findings. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and is a leading figure in his field, serving on various technical expert groups for HIV/AIDS intervention programs globally.
In addition to his research, Dr. Isac has provided technical expertise for large-scale studies conducted by international organizations and governments, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, the World Bank, and India’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Dr. Shajy Isac is a statistician and trained demographer with a PhD from the International Institute for Population Sciences in Mumbai, India. With more than 24 years of experience, he has designed and implemented large-scale studies and established monitoring systems in areas such as HIV/AIDS, health, and maternal and child health.
He leads a large research team with diverse expertise and provides ongoing technical support for epidemic appraisals and research studies globally, including in South Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Dr. Isac is a member of various technical expert groups for HIV/AIDS intervention programs with governments worldwide.
Dr. Isac has authored more than 150 papers and mentored research students both in India and abroad. He has also provided expertise in designing large-scale surveys on HIV/AIDS, health, maternal and child health, education, and other fields, including sampling and survey methods.
His collaborative work includes studies for major international and national donors such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, the World Bank, WHO, the United Nations Population Fund, USAID, the Research Triangle Institute, the UK Department for International Development, and India’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, as well as various state and national governments.
