Dr. Chelsea Jalloh's teaching philosophy is strongly influenced by fields of critical pedagogy and critical literacy. She strives to facilitate active and participatory learning experiences for students and draws on social constructivist approaches to co-create meaning and understanding together.
Chelsea’s teaching philosophy values ways of knowing, learning, and being grounded in community expertise and experience. As a settler of anglo-european descent living in Treaty 1, Chelsea continues to learn about how her teaching practice can actively contribute to Indigenizing and decolonizing systems, and can support anti-racism, anti-oppression, and social justice within the university and beyond.
For over 15 years, Chelsea has worked in the fields of education and community health; she holds a PhD in Education from the University of Manitoba.
For a period of 10 years, Chelsea worked in medical education at the University of Manitoba — in the Undergraduate Medical Education program of Community Health Sciences and for the Office of Innovation and Scholarship in Medical Education.
In 2024, Chelsea transitioned to the Fort Garry campus to teach in the undergraduate program of College of Community and Global Health.
