Dr. Elgazzar joined academia in 1991 and has worked previously in Egypt, Scotland and Saudi Arabia; he provokes clinical and transitional research and believes in interdisciplinary collaboration.

He has published and presented articles locally and internationally. Dr. Elgazzar teaches undergraduate and graduate students, supervising their research projects, and provides patients with full scope of maxillofacial surgery services at the University of Manitoba College Of Dentistry and at Winnipeg Hospitals, including the Health Sciences Centre.

Research araes of interest:

  •  Craniofacial trauma;
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders;
  • Enhancing tissue regeneration: using different biological and physical factors, e.g.: PRP and therapeutic ultrasonics for different clinical conditions: as in accelerating distraction osteogenesis, neuroanastomosis and nerve regeneration as well as in generation of TMJ condoyle from bone marrow stem cells;
  • Effect of He-Ne laser on the healing of extraction socket in diabetic patients (MSc);
  • Early detection of oral cancer (angiogenesis, cytokeratins, Apoptosis) (PhD).
