Accompanists
For 2021 we understand it may be difficult to arrange accompaniment for your audition recordings. Applicants may record with an accompanist if they would like to and/or are able to work with an accompanist in a safe and socially distanced manner, however, this is not required for your audition.
As part of the audition process, applicants will write a music theory test which assesses competency in basic music theory. This exam is written on the day of the in-person audition and applicants have 1 hour to complete the test. For 2021, the exam will be administered remotely. Download a sample theory test
Applicants who have not studied theory are advised to connect with a private instructor or attend the Theory Entrance Exam Prep (TEEP) class. For more information contact Prep Studies at prepmusic@umanitoba.ca
