Service Overview

The Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service of the Health Sciences Centre is a multi-disciplinary clinical service providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with eating disorders and their families. The service offers comprehensive assessment, day treatment and outpatient treatment with access to inpatient treatment in Children's Hospital, through collaboration with the WHRA Child Health Program. The service draws on a biopsychosocial model and offers a variety of treatments in the context of individual, family and group therapies.

The service provides core psychiatric training in the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is available as an elective rotation for child and adolescent career track residents.

The service is in the process of establishing an ongoing outcome evaluation process. Future research ventures are envisioned.

Access to the clinical services of the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service requires physician referral. The day hospital and outpatient services are located at the PsycHealth Centre in the PZ1 area.
