Steinbach offers the perfect balance of a rural practice with the proximity of urban amenities. On shared Academic Days, our residents meet regularly with residents from the Bilingual stream and Boundary Trails program.

The Steinbach program matches 4 residents every year. Much of the first-year Family Medicine Block Time is spent at Steinbach Family Medical and Bethesda Hospital. For the second year, the majority of rotations take place in Steinbach. Learning opportunities include general family practice, emergency room coverage, in-hospital patient care, obstetrics, surgical assists, chemotherapy, palliative care, and personal care home visits.

An important part of the Steinbach FMEDEC is the opportunity for residents to teach medical students as part of our multi-level learner environment.
