My program of research aims to improve the health and well-being of family caregivers who are caring for individuals living with advanced illness and/or receiving palliative and end-of-life care by focusing on the development of supportive interventions using a health promotion approach.

Jamie is passionate about promoting the health and well-being of family caregivers. She works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to conduct research focusing on the development of theoretically- and empirically-based psychosocial and behavioral interventions to maintain and improve caregiver health. She is currently developing and evaluating a home-based physical activity intervention as one means with which to promote the health of family caregivers of people with advanced cancer. Jamie held a research fellowship in the Psychosocial Oncology Research Training program through the CIHR Strategic Training Initiative in Health Research. She is a member of the International Palliative Care Family Carer Research Collaboration, and has presented and published her research at the local, national, and international levels. Currently, she teaches an undergraduate level course in Supportive & Palliative Care, and is interested in working with students focused on family caregiving, psychosocial oncology, and palliative and end-of-life care.
