ICU Outcomes Improvement in Winnipeg
We have an active program in ICU Outcomes Improvement. This program aims to harness evidence-based best practices for the benefit of patients, and to improve the cost-effectiveness of ICU care.

This structure, co-headed by Drs. Kendiss Olafson and Carmen Hrymak, has two main components:

(i) a Quality Circle in each ICU, and

(ii) a centralized steering committee that sets overall system priorities and supports the work of the Quality Circles.

As the modern approach to Outcomes Improvement is powered by high quality, systematically collected data, a powerful resource that figures prominently in our Outcomes Improvement program is the Winnipeg ICU database.
