CCWOC class outline

6 classes, 90 minutes each (Zoom meetings) Wednesday afternoons, 1 – 2:30 pm  beginning on February 24th, 2021.

Multi-genre Writing Workshop – Open to All and Mixed Genres

There is so much to learn from other and all genres. This workshop is for any and even mixed genres, including but not limited to, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s literature, script (film or graphic novel), or mixed genre, ie: mixing poetry with prose, or real with made up, let’s talk!

On a practical level, in this workshop will be reviewing each other’s work for feedback and general discussion. We will cover writing topics as they arise including, voice and style, what each genre requires and what your own work can learn from other genres. I also want to play with the fun things, like world building, writing in different time frames/eras, as well as, my very favourite topic, character (yes, even when it’s your own true voice, you are still making a character).

This non-credit creative writing class is open to 12 writers and will take place on Zoom.

Participants are expected to submit 5 - 10 pages of writing on time (schedule to be determined during the first class), read and respond to fellow classmates’ work, and always conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner.

Discussions will led by Katherena, but will be open, informal, and include everyone as equally as possible (meaning I will ask you to turn your camera on, if you can, or at least your mic)

To apply please send a brief (super informal, can even be point form) email outlining writing experience and goals to ALL levels welcome.
