Peter A. Cattini earned both his B.Sc. (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology and Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of London, King’s College. He then did postdoctoral training in the Metabolic Research Unit at the University of California San Francisco before being recruited to the University of Manitoba. In addition to Department Head, Peter has served at the University of Manitoba in a number of positions, including as Associate Vice President Research and member of Senate. Peter is currently a member of the University Senate Committee on Awards and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Medical Service Foundation. Peter’s research has focused on pituitary and placental hormones and related metabolic disorders, as well as the study of growth factors in the heart and their potential role in protection against and response to injury. Peter is also the proud recipient of the Health Science Graduate Students' Association Award for Distinction in Mentorship on three separate occasions.
