Research Day Returns
New Faculty Tradition Set for February 24th, 2010
Keynote addresses from a pair of internationally recognized oral health researchers, poster presentations and an oral health technology showcase will highlight the 2010 edition of Research Day at the Faculty of Dentistry and School of Dental Hygiene.

Dr. Rade D. Paravina and Dr. G. Rex Holland have been confirmed as the keynote speakers for the celebration of oral health research slated for Wednesday, February 24 at the Bannatyne Campus of the University of Manitoba.

“We are fortunate and thrilled to have a two such accomplished academics agree to pay us a visit,” said Dr. J. Elliott Scott, Associate Dean (Research). “Their areas of expertise are among the most relevant topics in the field today.” ( read more )

International Centre for Oral-Systemic Health Develops First Comprehensive Curriculum in Oral-Systemic Science
Groundbreaking initiative brings oral health education to non-dental health professionals. The International Centre for Oral-Systemic Health (ICOSH), in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba, has announced plans to launch the Curriculum in Oral-Systemic Science for Non-dental Practitioners. It’s the first evidence-based educational programming to translate oral-systemic science to non-dental healthcare disciplines such as medicine, nursing and other allied health communities. Student Research on a Roll
Upsurge continues as dental students discover research

It turned out to be another banner year for student research at the Faculty of Dentistry. For the second consecutive year, students turned out in record numbers to be part of the Faculty's booming research program.

In 2008, a total of 35 students - roughly one-third of the entire student-body - had signed up for the Faculty of Dentistry Student Research Group (SRG). That's a rise of roughly 10% from the year before, which was also an all-time high. The numbers were contained in the SRG's annual report that was released this week. The report is now available through the Faculty of Dentistry website or through the Student Research Group website. ( read more - view more)
