U of M - Student Affairs - International Centre for Students - FINANCING AN EXCHANGE

FINANCING AN EXCHANGE

The costs of an exchange can add up. Although students pay their regular tuition to The University of Manitoba, there are additional costs associated with an exchange. Some of those costs are accommodations, food, transportation, student visas, health insurance and additional travel expenses. Here are some of the resources that a student can access to help finance their exchange.

Student Aid

Students who are eligible for student aid here at the University of Manitoba, remain eligible during their time on exchange. When applying for student aid for the period during an exchange, students must submit a paper application and not apply online.

Student Exchange Award

ICS has an award that students can apply for to help finance their exchange. Applications are available from the exchange coordinators at the International Centre for Students.

Canadian Bureau for International Education

CBIE often offers scholarships for Canadian students who are studying abroad. Check out their website for eligibility guidelines and due dates.

Student Awards

Student Awards is a website that lists a number of scholarships and awards available to all students. These scholarships are not specifically for exchange students.

UM Faculties

Check with your faculty to see if they can offer funding for your exchange.

Other Funding

Some exchanges have scholarships offered through the partner university or the country’s government. Students should ask their exchange coordinators if there are any additional scholarships connected to their destination university.
