Dr Xiaoyun Wang Fellowship in Business Administration
The Goal

The goal of this campaign is to raise $10,000 in funds by April 1, 2014. This amount will be matched 100% by the Manitoba Scholarships and Bursaries Initiative (MSBI) for a total at least $20,000 endowment fund to provide an annual student scholarship in perpetuity.

Biography

Xiaoyun WangDr Xiaoyun Wang was a rare individual who was not only a bright and gifted academic, but also someone with grace and thoughtfulness, qualities that touched the lives of everyone she met. She lived with courage and determination to face life's challenges and inspired others.

Dr Xiaoyun Wang worked 12 years at the Asper School, the University of Manitoba, after receiving her Ph.D. degree from the McGill University in 2001. During her short academic career, fighting with cancer most of the time, Dr Xiaoyun had over 30 research articles including high quality refereed journals, book chapters, and unpublished papers. Dr Xiaoyun had received many research grants including the Canadian SSHRC in 2002-2005 and 2007-2010. She has also received the CMA Award on Research & Teaching and the Associates’ Achievement Award on Research from the Asper School of Business in 2006.

It was an honor and privilege to everyone who knew her as a kind, calm, and gentle soul. The graduate fellowship in her memory will allow graduate students to know Dr Xiaoyun as an academic and a beacon to inspire them in their academic and life endeavours.
