Navigating your way around campus can be confusing at first, but whether we take transit, drive, walk or bike to campus, we are all pedestrians at some point in our journey. Once we arrive on campus, the University’s 2016 Transportation Survey results indicate most of us travel as pedestrians between buildings. The resources below can help ensure you take the right path!

Take a hike

See your campus in a whole new light. The Office of Sustainability has developed Sustainability Walking Tours for both Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses:

• Fort Garry Sustainability Guide and Walking Tour
• Bannatyne Sustainability Guide and Walking Tour

The Safewalk Program is available at both Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. The Security Services patrols can be identified by their blue 'Safewalk' jackets or shirts with yellow lettering and picture I.D. cards, and the Safewalk program can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To request a Safewalk escort to accompany you to your car, the bus stop, or any other destination on Fort Gary or Bannatyne campuses, call 204-474-9312.

Avoid the chills of winter and walk underground using the University’s tunnel system. The tunnels connect many of the buildings on Fort Garry campus.

Shower Access

If you run, walk or bike to campus, staff can now purchase a shower-only pass at Max Bell on Fort Garry or Joe Doupe on Bannatyne campus. Purchase day pass access for $2, or monthly pass access for $10.

• On Fort Garry, register at Recreation Services Reception in Frank Kennedy Centre, and access the shower facilities at Max Bell Centre from 6:30am-11:30pm daily
• On Bannatyne, register in Room 030 in Brodie Centre, and access the shower facilities at Joe Doupe Centre from 6:00am-10:00pm weekdays and 9:00am-7:00pm weekends
