Cost: The program is free. Participants are responsible for the cost of obtaining a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check if required by participating nonprofit organizations.


Who should join?

  • U of M students who are interested in creating change and want to get more involved in the community

What’s it all about?

  • Learn about community development and social justice issues affecting people in local, national, and international communities
  • Explore the work being done by community agencies in Winnipeg

How does it work?

  • Attend the Praxis Retreat in October and January
  • Attend monthly Praxis trainings
  • Attend bi-weekly Praxis meetings and participate in other committee planning as decided by participants
  • Discuss social justice issues with the use of articles, videos, and guest speakers
  • Volunteer and carry out projects with various non-profit organizations in Winnipeg

When does it happen?

  • Throughout the school year

Where do we meet?

  • Trainings and  meetings at the U of M Fort Garry Campus
  • Volunteering at non-profit organizations throughout Winnipeg (e.g. Siloam Mission, Winnipeg Harvest, D’Arcy’s ARC, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg)

Participants are eligible for recognition on their Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
