STEP 3: Choose your courses

Students are encouraged to be aware of the details found in a course description and in the class schedule in advance off registration, so as to reduce the chances of registration errors occuring.

*NEW* for 2016-2017 Course Registration:

Select courses will include a Waitlist function, allowing students to be added to a waitlist and notified when a space becomes available.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must have a U of M email account to receive Waitlist notifications.

How do I choose courses?

Details that should be considered as a part of the course selection process might include (but aren't limited to): course restrictions, pre- and co-requisites, lab section information, or extra fees.

Additional Resources:

How do I look up courses and course descriptions?

The Online Academic Calendar and the Course Catalog (Aurora) can be used to review descriptions of all Senate-approved courses for offer by the U of M - some of these courses may not be currently scheduled.

To search the schedule of classes being offered in a specific term and to view section-specific details and restrictions, refer to the Class Schedule for that term.

Additional Resources can be found on the Courses and Programs page.  Remember! Any questions or concerns about what courses you should register for should be directed to your advising office: Undergraduate, Graduate.

Do I need to get permission?

Students may need permission to register for some or all of their classes; this may be required if you wish to audit a course, because of a course restriction, if you have a lab exemption, or if your program requires that your course selections be pre-approved. See Registration Permission for more information.
