University of Manitoba Bursaries Requiring Application:

Flying Officer George Finkle Memorial Bursary - A $650 award for full time students in good academic standing who are members of the Regular Canadian Armed Forces or Primary Reserve (or members of the immediate family of a Regular Forces member). In addition, students must complete and submit the 2017/18 University of Manitoba General Bursary application in order to be considered for this award. Louis Riel Bursaries at the University of Manitoba- available to qualifying Métis students studying at the University of Manitoba registered in 6 credit hours between May 1 - August 31, 2017. In 2017, bursaries will be offered to both undergraduate and graduate students. Graduate students who received bursary funding in the fall/winter term are not eligible for the spring/summer Louis Riel bursary. In order to be considered, students will be required to complete the following application: The Louis Riel Bursary Application. Michael McAdam and Wendy Smith Bursary is an award valued at $1000 will be offered to a returning student (one who has completed at least one year as a full-time student at the University of Manitoba) who:

  1. is enrolled full-time at the University of Manitoba, in any Faculty or School at the University;
  2. has achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0;
  3. has demonstrated qualities of an entrepreneurial knowledge gained at the University by developing a business venture, a product, or a service outside the University;
  4. has demonstrated financial need on the standard University of Manitoba bursary application form.

Applicants for this award will be required to submit a brief essay outlining the scope of their entrepreneurial experience. This essay will be submitted with the standard bursary application form. Please click the award title for application details. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Rossbrook House Bursary- An annual bursary of $500 offered to a student who: (1) Has participated in programs at Rossbrook House in Winnipeg, MB; (2) Is enrolled full-time in any Faculty or School (including University 1) at the University of Manitoba; (3) As an entering student from high school or as a continuing student (see application for details); (4) Demonstrates financial need on the University of Manitoba General Bursary application; (5) Has been nominated by an employee of Rossbrook House verifying the candidate's program participation. In addition, students must complete and submit the 2017/18 University of Manitoba General Bursary application in order to be considered for this award. Student Library Worker Bursary - $1150 award for a full-time student who is working part-time in the libraries at either the Fort Gary or Bannatyne campus. In addition, students must complete and submit the 2017/18 University of Manitoba General Bursary application in order to be considered for this award. Victoria Inn Bursary- $350 bursary for a staff member or the sibling of a staff member of the Victoria Inn enrolled full-time in any faculty or school at the University of Manitoba. In addition, students must complete and submit the 2017/18 University of Manitoba General Bursary application in order to be considered for this award. University of Manitoba General Bursary - Supplemental Awards:

Supplemental Bursary Application - This application is for bursaries that require extra-curricular activities, leadership experience, athletic involvement, memberships, and also to identify rural students. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Armed Forces General Bursary Application - This application is for students who are current or past members of the Canadian Armed Forces, or have family members or ancestors with service in the Canadian Armed Forces. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

William and Olga Danyluk Bursary - This bursary is for members of St. Andrew's College who are registered in the Faculties of Arts, Science or Human Ecology. Eligible applicants must have achieved a minimum degree G.P.A of 2.5 and participate in College activities. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Enid Nemy Bursary - This bursary is for full-time students enrolled in their third or fourth year of study in any undergraduate program or in any year of study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies who demonstrates an interest in pursuing a career in journalism. Eligible applicants must have achieved a minimum degree G.P.A. of 3.0. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Work History Application for Bursary Consideration - This bursary is for students who have a history of full-time employment prior to the current academic year (students with only summer time employment are not eligible). Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Accessibility Information for Special Bursary Consideration - This application is for students with accessibility, disability or medical issues. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

College of Medicine Supplemental Bursary- This bursary is to be completed by College of Medicine students only. Extra information is required for consideration. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Faculty of Law Supplemental Bursary - This bursary is to be completed by Faculty of Law students only. Extra information is required for consideration. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.


University of Manitoba Scholarships Requiring Application:

Berdie and Irvin Cohen Scholarship- To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must: (1) Have completed at least one year of full-time study at the University of Manitoba or have graduated from the University of Manitoba within the five years immediately preceding application for this scholarship; (2) Be admitted to and enroll at Hebrew University in Israel for one year of study for the 2017/18 academic session; (3) Have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at the University of Manitoba. Shirley Bradshaw Scholarship Fund - One scholarship is available for a full-time graduate student enrolled in either the Master of City Planning program or the Master of Public Administration program and one scholarship is available for an undergraduate student in their third or fourth year of studies in one of the following areas of study: City Planning, Political Studies, Sociology, or Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations. Jeff Kushner and Randall McGinnis Scholarship - This scholarship will be offered to an LGBT undergraduate student who is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba; has completed a minimum of 36 credit hours of study; has a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0; and has demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on community service. If there are no applicants in the Faculty of Engineering, the scholarship may be offered to a student in Geology, Computer Science or Medicine, who otherwise meets the award criteria. Lambda Foundation for Excellence - One scholarship for a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in any Faculty or School who is conducting or has proposed to conduct research relating to gay and lesbian people, their community, values, achievements, art or sports or human rights issues. Application annual deadline: October 2, 2017.

Oppressive Paradigm Prize - $1,000 is to be awarded to a full-time student who has written the best piece of creative writing addressing shortcomings they perceive associated with using grade point average (GPA) as a criterion upon which to base academic and, or, financial reward. Rabbi Dr. Moshe Stern Memorial Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must: (1) have completed at least 30 credit hours of study in any program at the University of Manitoba; (2) have achieved a minimum  degree grade point average of 3.0; (3) have demonstrated community involvement; (4) have completed at least one course in Judaic Studies at the University of Manitoba; (5) be enrolled part-time or full-time in any school or faculty  at the University of Manitoba or any other accredited university (Canadian or international) to pursue Judaic Studies, in the year in which the scholarship is tenable, with the provisos that:
- a student who is pursuing an academic program of study may register at any accredited university; or
- if a student chooses to pursue a theological programme of study, enrollment must be at an accredited Orthodox Jewish post-secondary institution. Please click on the award title for application details.  Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Arun Sud Memorial Scholarship - One scholarship for a full-time or part-time undergraduate student in any Faculty or School who has achieved high academic standing, is registered with the office of Accessibility Services at the University of Manitoba and who has demonstrated extra-curricular involvement in the university or external community. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

George Weston Scholarships - Three scholarships are available for full-time undergraduates: one to a student in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, one to a student in any department in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (excluding Food and Nutritional Sciences) and one to a student in who is either in the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Music or the School of Art. Applicants must have completed at least 30 credit hours of full-time study, have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate exceptional community involvement, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and have outstanding abilities and achievements. Application deadline: October 2, 2017.

Westland Foundation Education Fund Award - (for first year students registered full-time in University 1 or any other direct entry faculty or school who has participated in accumulating units for the Westland Foundation Education Fund program) Deadline: Competition closed for 2017/18.

Olive Beatrice Stanton Award for Excellence in Teaching
