Coping with Change

Parent Group for U of M Students with Babies and Young Children

Who this group is for: This 4 week open group is for University of Manitoba students who are managing the dual role of both student and parent. 

Based on the Coping with Change Manual developed by the Women’s Health Clinic students will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet other students with similar experiences and learn from each other;
  • Learn practical coping and relaxation strategies that can be used on a daily basis;
  • Learn to manage the pressure and expectations that come with this dual role;
  • Re-shape or develop realistic expectations of the self; and
  • Learn how to find support and develop and maintain healthy relationships.

June 29: Self Care and Relaxation
July 6: Emotional Adjustments
July 13: Healthy Self/Healthy Relationships
July 20: Networking and Breaking Social Isolation

This group will be co-facilitated by Katie Kutryk who is a Registered Nurse and the University of Manitoba Health and Wellness Educator and Michelle Pearson who is a Counselor and Intercultural Specialist at the Student Counseling Centre.

Wednesdays at 12:00 to 1:00 pm

Drop in but maximum of 12 students
