Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Notetaking Program

Our Volunteer Notetaking (VNT) Program helps reduce academic barriers by recruiting peer volunteers to upload their lecture notes for SAS students to supplement their learning. Your professor will make an announcement if your course is in need of a volunteer. Here’s what to expect if you’re selected as a VNT:

Time Commitment

  • Only 15 minutes per week to upload your notes in addition to your class time. We ask our volunteers to upload their notes at least twice a week.

Academic and Professional Development

  • Improve notetaking skills and organization
  • Develop a sense of responsibility for class attendance and commitment to the program
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive university community

Past volunteers state that they were more motivated to attend classes and take high quality notes which helps contribute to academic success!

Benefits

  • Stand out as a student and receive recognition on your Co-Curricular Record (CCR) for your time spent volunteering
  • Volunteer experience makes a great addition to resumes

How do I sign up?

Log in to JUMP and click “Student Accessibility Services” to access the SAS Portal and select the “Notetakers” icon and provide a set of sample notes. If you are selected to be the notetaker, you will receive an email notification. For more details and instructions please use our tutorial.
