Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Residency

The University of Manitoba Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency is a five-year program that is fully approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. There are a total of ten positions in the residency, of which only one or two are available each year. The primary objective of the program is to provide residents with the knowledge and skills required to practice general otolaryngology and to gain access to fellowship training in the otolaryngology subspecialities.

Study with us

As a relatively small program, this residency offers close and responsive training. With only one or two residents per service, the competition for operative experience is greatly reduced, meaning you’ll have access to an excellent volume of cases across Manitoba.

Hands-on surgical experience

Experience hands-on otologic and thyroid surgery—these procedures are often in short supply in other otolaryngology programs.

Your pathway to success

Our graduates have a high success-rate at the Canadian fellowship exam. Residents have gone on to acquire fellowships throughout Canada, the United States and Europe, as well as practice private or academic otolaryngology in equal numbers.
