Executives in Residence at the Asper School of Business provide students, faculty and members of the community with access to successful individuals who have proven track records in public and private business undertakings. Asper Executives are fully engaged in the business of the School making public presentations, giving lectures to students, and being available to faculty and students alike
Dan helps develop relationships between the Asper School and the Manitoba business community. He is also a sessional lecturer in Taxation at the Asper School and coaches students for the annual JDC-West case competition. He enjoyed a 30-year career as an accountant and tax advisor, serving as a partner with PwC and Deloitte.
Following his retirement from the accounting profession, he was Managing Director of the Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing. He is currently Chief Tax Appeals Commissioner for Manitoba.
Dan’s community involvement includes having served on the boards of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (Manitoba Chapter), Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Rotary Club of Winnipeg, the Reh-Fit Centre, the Holy Family Home and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Winnipeg (Banking & Investment Committee). He serves the United Way as an Agency Liaison Volunteer. He is a board member of the Manitoba Chartered Accountants Foundation.
Jeff is a Corporate Actuary for Manitoba Blue Cross, responsible for corporate pricing and managing its underwriting department.
Since 2006, he has lectured the undergraduate course on Interest Theory at the Warren Centre. In his capacity as Executive in Residence, Strong serves as the U of M’s official liaison with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) and the main point of contact for the CIA University Accreditation Program. He also serves on the Actuarial Mathematics Advisory Board, where he helps raise the profile of the Warren Centre and advocate its actuarial program.
In addition, he is responsible for high school student recruitment, and marketing the Actuarial profession and the Centre to graduating students.
Judy's role includes providing oversight for MBA students participating in industry consulting projects, as well as networking with the business community to generate interest in this exciting experiential learning venture.
Judy is principal of Judy Mathieson Ltd, Strategic Leadership Development. She previously enjoyed a 23-year career at Scotiabank, culminating in the role of Director and Market Lead, Scotia Private Client Group for Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario. She has been a sessional instructor at Asper, (Compensation) and has been a facilitator in the CMA Strategic Leadership Program. She is actively involved in the new Chartered Professional Accounting Program.
She has previously served on the Board of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce (Treasurer), and is currently a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Economic Competitiveness Leadership Council. Judy’s greatest professional joy has been watching individuals she has mentored develop and take on greater challenges in their careers.
