About UNEVOC Canada

Collaboration with Existing Networks

UNEVOC - Canada will send a Call to Participate in Canada's both official languages to various stakeholders in technical and vocational education. The Call to Participate will also be published in the Canadian Vocational Journal and will be posted in all major technical and vocational listservs on the Internet. We have a particular interest in other networks with a similar focus and interest in international development. Two of the networks recently funded by the Canadian Government have already expressed an interest to collaborate with UNEVOC -Canada: (1) Network for the Evaluation of Training and Technologies (EvNet) and The Western Research Network on Education and Training (WRNET). This linkage will facilitate collaborative projects, eliminate unnecessary duplication of research and development efforts, optimize the utilization of available resources, and broaden the communication and knowledge-base on a continuing basis. The Canadian Vocational Association, a major partner of UNEVOC - Canada, has already agreed to give us access to their network and membership.

Our Associate Leader, Richard Gagnon, will be responsible for establishing linkages with francophones across Canada and worldwide. We will devote major efforts to attract francophone researchers, practitioners, policy makers and other stakeholders involved in technical and vocational education to our network. We will secure grants to enable our network to operate in English and French. Some major francophone associations involved in technical and vocational education have already been contacted, in all instances their initial responses have been positive. Dr. France Boutin, French Language specialist, will act as the French Liaison person for the University of Manitoba.

Financial Strategy
  • The Faculty of Education, University of Manitoba, will provide for the infrastructure and the initial start-up funds for the network.
  • Many private, public and nonprofit partners have expressed interest to provide in kind contribution (including access to facilities, staff time and access to expertise) to the network.
  • Fund-raising activities will be organized.
  • The network and its individual members will compete for research grants.
  • We will generate cash support from public and private sector partners for the network.
