Dr. Chelsea Ruth is a practicing Neonatologist with an expertise in the use of the Data Repository to study fetal and neonatal risk factors affecting children’s long term outcomes across multiple domains including physical and mental health and educational success. She has two undergraduate BSc degrees from the University of Manitoba as well as a Master’s of Science. She completed her postgraduate training in Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children and her Neonatology Fellowship at BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She has in depth knowledge of the Data Repository from programing her Master’s thesis examining the effects of gestational age and socioeconomic status in infants and has competitively funded ongoing projects examining the effects of maternal depression and treatment as well as a first look at the effects of diabetes in pregnancy on long term educational outcomes. She is involved with Manitoba Health Funded Deliverables at MCHP and is currently the lead on one examining type 2 diabetes in Manitoba. She has been working with programmers and colleagues from multiple disciplines to expand our use of the administrative data in the area of diabetes and perinatal health, as well as exploring new data to add to the repository. She also brings the experience of a practicing clinician to her work.
