What is Economics?
Economics is the study of choices. It is the study of the ways people deal with scarcity. Economics examines the ways people use knowledge, skills, resources, and power to create and distribute products to meet their needs and desires.
Economics is the Study of people in their day-to-day lives, and the study of individual and social actions and directed toward improving their well-being.
Economics is a dynamic and interesting subject that will broaden your understanding of the world, as well as your reasoning and problem solving abilities.
Why Study Economics?
Economics encompasses a variety of subjects--from government finance to environmental protection to the price of gas at your local service station. You learn about power structures in the economy and how you can effect change.
The study of economics teaches valuable skills. You learn how to reason systematically, to solve problems, and to describe your thoughts to others. Learning economic theory trains your mind to think about the world in an abstract way and to recognize assumptions that underlie generalizations.
Economics is one of the most well-rounded paths of study you can undertake. Through economic training you acquire math, communication, and computer skills, as well as knowledge about the world and global issues such as "the new economy" and globalisation.
